ACCORDING TO THE 1911 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE SF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, SCOTT & GILBERT WERE "MANUFACTURING CHEMISTS." THE 1910 EDITION OF THE HANDBOOK OF MANUFACTURERS IN AND ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO LISTS THEM IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES: "SHOE DRESSINGS, PERFUMES, SPICES AND TOILET ARTICLES."
This bottle is hand-blown in a 2-pc mold and has fancy diagonal ribbing all around the base. It is nicely embossed on the front: "SCOTT & GILBERT CO. SAN FRANCISCO U.S.A. in curved letters. There are some crude stretchy marks on the neck with many bubbles throughout. An amber crown top is uncommon, and the bottle is unusual from a manufacturing chemist.
It stands 9 ½” tall and 2 ½” in diameter. It has a small scratch on the front shoulder but other than that it is high quality glass in shiny beautiful condition. It's just a great Western bottle.
