Beautiful Hand Painted Porcelain Box
Beautiful Rococo Style
Courting Scene
Scissors Mark

For Your Porcelain Box A dainty vintage hand painted or handpainted porcelain square shaped box with a hinged lid. This beautiful box has a brass frame closing mechanism with a locking mechanism which also serves as a thumb piece in the front. This is a squared box having corrugated sides. It has a flat base and a domed lid. The lid is decorated with hand painted scenes showing a couple dressed in period clothing in a Rococo style courting scene sitting on the ground in the outdoors surrounded by trees and vegetation. The scene is framed in a gold colored and blue framing. The sides have the same type of blue and gold color as the frame near the top. The sides also have gold foliate design in the middle of the side, just very nice. The inside of the box is undecorated and shows the white color of fine porcelain. The bottom of the box is undecorated but has what looks like a pair of scissors in blue under glaze. The box is a bright white in color both on the inside and outside. The hinge has the typical hinge stop, which would prevent the lid from falling all the way back when opened. The box is most likely a reproduction of antique European boxes from the 18the and 19th century. Please see photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
