Great Civil War Period Antique Classic Oval Walnut Frame, Holding FULL PLATE TINTYPE OF WOMAN, TINTED IMAGE, SHOWN HOLDING LARGE PHOTO ALBUM
Frame Marked With Maker Name, PORTLAND, MAINE
DESCRIPTION:Large classic antique oval walnut frame, holding super FULL PLATE TINTED TINTYPE of woman. Classic frame is identified with maker's name on reverse, "E.S.Wormell & Co. photographers, Portland, Maine". Very rare to find such an early frame HOLDING THE ORIGINAL PHOTO IT WAS MATED WITH DURING THE CIVIL WAR, and to find such a frame with photographer's name. Frame has age bubbles in the glass which are nice. Has original backing board which also is rarely seen with these, as well as the original gold mat ring.
A great, unusual antique for display, use, or in a collection. The photo is great, or the frame can be used with something of greater interest that you have.
Photo is nice because it is LARGE, it is TINTED, and the woman is pictured HOLDING DOUBLE GEM SIZE TINTYPE ALBUM, WHICH IS EXTREMELY RARE.
In excellent condition overall except for one very small rust area in the corner. Frame measures 12" x 10" overall, with the large image measuring 6 1/2" x 4 1/2".
I apologize for the light reflection in a couple of my scans which of course is not there.
A great frame and original tintype that has been in it for 165 years!!
