From the June 1988 issue of Playboy, this pencil sketch features a preliminary rough created by acclaimed illustrator Doug Sneyd for that issues gag cartoon. Rendered on vellum, it measures approximately 7 3/4 by 11 inches and is taped to a sheet of paper. This listing includes the page featuring the finished cartoon that has been removed from the magazine (please note that the magazine itself is not included in with the listing). Condition is good- as a prelim and as part of the creative process it was not expected to be kept perfect.Would look great framed together!
About Doug Sneyd:
Doug Sneyd began his career incommercial illustration before going freelance to work for a variety of book and magazine publishers. He also illustrated single-panel cartoons for theToronto Star, Canada's largest circulation newspaper (cartoons that were eventually syndicated throughout North America). In 1964, he began working for Playboyand hisgag strips have appeared in the magazine ever since. Throughout his career, he has contributed over 500 cartoons in all and became a favorite artist of Playboy readers.
