Gillette English Flair Tip/Rare “S” Stamp/Late 1950’s-60’s/Brit. Pat. 694093:
$31.00
This is a rare Gillette safety razor with an English Flair Tip and an "S" stamp, likely from the late 1950s or early 1960s. It was manufactured in the United Kingdom and is a collectible item.
I could not find a definitive answer for what the “S” means. Some say it was for a smaller profile razor head. Some say it designates the country for which it was marketed for. Scotland or Spain perhaps. The special stamp could designate the shave aggressiveness as well. The English flair tips are known to be slightly more efficient than its American counterparts.
Despite all of the mystery of the “S” stamp this is one nimble shaver at 58 grams. The razor head has a brilliant shine and the knurling on the handle is superb. The butterfly doors open and close smoothly and the TTO knob functions properly.
