Important Pair ANTIQUE VICTORIAN AMERICANA Saddle Mount Sleigh Carriage Bells

Wonderful pair of 1880\'s-1900 era bells with
Cast Brass Eagles on top.

Fixtures are made completely of brass.

These bells have a really nice sound, the small exterior little pieces that make sound are tincklers(the small clappers that hit the outside of the bell), they are all present, none missing
.
Approx 12\" tall, 9 1/4\" wide (from outside bell edge to outside edge of opposite bell)


I have bought and sold bells for many years,these are the finest example I have ever seen of this type.


They came with dyed red horsehair which was probably was put into the top \"trumpets\".

There are also two strands of horsehaor with a metal cap on each end, they have had modification, they have a clip soldered to the cap, I dont think these were part of the bells, they were some extra ornamentation someone addedto their horses.

There is some brass bolt fitting through the hole of onbe of the lower mounts, this is the only one, and I don\'t think it was original to the unit.

Metal has corrosion, these were used, and exposed to the elements. These should be cleaned up and re-plated and they will look magnificent!

These are a must for a serious antique bell collection, a very important set.
