Original, rare kokeshi doll named “Cold wind”, handmade by the author and master Aoki Ryoka.

Aoki was born in Gunma Prefecture in 1931. Her real name is Toshiko. The "Ryo" in her pseudonym was taken from the name of her teacher, Mr. Ryoshu Nozawa, a painter of Japanese-style paintings.
Around 1958, she began working at Creative Kokeshi. Eight pieces of her work were purchased by the Crown Prince and Crown Princess in 1975 and 1983. Prize winner 1975; Minister of Education "Hana Tenshi". In 1977, she won the Japan-Taiwan Cultural Exchange Award. In 1980 and 1981 she received the Minister of International Trade and Industry Award. In 1981, an award from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Member of the Nippon Kokeshi Arts and Crafts Association.
