Description: This beautiful German beer stein was produced by Villeroy and Boch in Mettlach over 100 years ago. The stein's theme is tavern drinking - it shows several scenes of musketeers in taverns.The exceptionally crafted ceramics art object consists of gray clay body with pink background, and applied cream decorations and white relief figures - a very complex and labor-intensive technique. The inscription reads:
“Mässig trinken, fröhlich singen, half von je su guten Dingen.”
(Moderate drinking, happy singing, have always brought good things.)
“Wein und frohes Lied, macht ein lustiges Gemüt.”
(Wine and a happy song make for a happy disposition.)
“Ein Glas beim Freund ist gut gemeint.”

The lid is pewter with a ceramics inlay featuring hops vines and clusters.It is 12" tall to the top of the thumblift, 1L capacity.
