Up for sale is a genuine and very scarce M1895 Serbian Army Officer’s Sword, produced by Solingen in Germany in the late 19th century to early 20th century. It features a nickeled steel scabbard and black Bakelite grips.
Markings: As shown.
Condition: Sword Fair, scabbard Poor. The blade features several spots of rust and pitting as well as abrasive scratches in sections, but the overall finish remains nice. The blade is structurally sound with no bending or warping found. Intact point. The ornate metalwork around the grip is structurally sound with nice finish and some small spots of green corrosion. There is a fracture in one section of the metalwork as shown, but it is not delicate nor at risk of an imminent break. Very nice Bakelite grips and ornate lion. The scabbard shows extensive rust and pitting across most of the surface as well as tiny scratches, presumably from abrasive cleaning. The sword fits smoothly in the scabbard.
Flaws aside, these swords are exceptionally rare and very nice additions to a collection.
