Marine Corps Constabulary in Nicaragua List of Bandit Skirmishes Book:
$39.00

This book is a reprint from the Marine Corps’ publication ofthe operations in Nicaragua. This book is huge has a lot of interesting butbasically useless information. I cut this information out, and kept the reallycool for a collector.

This book has the 200 pages of ALL of the bandit attacks andpatrol engagements with the banditos by the Marine constabulary. Also, thereare many pages the cover the Marine Constabulary detachment strengths andlocations.

Prior to the U.S. occupation, the long period of civilstrife had encouraged the development of a variety of private armies. Thefreshly elected government of President Carlos José Solórzano requested thatthe U.S. Marines (equally interested in central control) remain in Nicaraguauntil an indigenous internal security force could be trained; for that effect, the Nicaraguan government hired in 1925 a retired U.S. General to help set up anew paramilitary gendarmerie force, titled the Guardia Nacional de Nicaragua (NationalGuard of Nicaragua)] That same year, U.S. forces left the country, but after acivil war broke out, they returned in 1926 and took over the command (and training)of the National Guard from 1927 to 1933, when it was returned to Nicaraguancontrol under the government of President Juan Bautista Sacasa.

President Sacasa, under political pressure from José MaríaMoncada, who had been the leader of a rebel faction which later joined thegovernment after U.S. mediation efforts, appointed Anastasio Somoza García asChief Director of the National Guard in 1925. Besides being a nephew of Sacasa,Somoza Garcia was a trusted friend of Moncada and a supporter of the liberalrevolt. He was trusted by the Americans due to his service as a translator toHenry Stimson during the 1927 peace conference, schooling in the U.S., andtraining under the U.S. Marines (apparently, as an officer in the NationalGuard).

This 8 1/2 x 11 staple bound book has 210 pages.
