This Mayer China rimmed soup bowl was manufactured in the second quarter of 1962 by MAYER CHINA for the EMPIRE HOUSE, one of the first \"tourist\" facilities to open while the Glen Canyon Dam was under construction. On September 22, 1966 Lady Bird Johnson gave the official dedication speech for Glen Canyon Dam, before a crowd of 3,000 people.
This is a rimmed soup bowl, 6-1/4\" in diameter. It is white with the \"Empire House\" and border all in a rich golden color.
The hotel still exists at 107 South Seventh Avenue in Page but after 62 years, is not the top tourist destination it once was and has undergone many name changes. Buy ONE OR ALL (discount on multiple purchases).
