Yes, yet another second from the top of pioneer's monster SX series for sale; the SX-1280, and one of the cleanest around! Here's a nice heavyweight Pioneer SX-1280 185wpc stereo receiver 1978. Second only to their 270wpc flagship SX-1980. This receiver listed for $950 its last year in 1979. Very clean, barely a scratch on the unit. The silver faceplate and glass is near perfect. The wood case has one small nick on the top left and a almost not worth mentioning slight veneer mark on the lower left side.
All fins and black metal vent plate are shiny and free of nicks and scratches. The back plate is nice and shiny black, AM antennae along with the jumpers and RCA inputs are all in excellent condition.

Both channels are working and putting out full power with no distortion. All lights, meters, and selector switches are working properly. I have done prolonged testing on all the functions including Aux, Phono 1 + 2, FM, AM, Mute, Loudness, Tone, Hi Lo Filters, Speaker A B and C. However, as expected with any 30+ year old piece of electronic equipment, there is no guarantee against future failure. There was some dust and scratchiness to the switches causing some intermittent distortion which is common with dirty switches. I have cleaned them as best I could without actually disassembling the switches and they now operate smoothly. Most of these older receivers have this problem and it can usually be remedied with a good cleaning of the pots with Deoxit. Please keep in mind that this receiver has not had a complete restoration with replaced bulbs, resistors, caps, etc., and is sold "as is" with no guarantees.Receiver will be packed securely with lots of padding for the faceplate.
