This is an extremely delicate and extremely rare set of ornaments copyrighted by R. Dakin & Co from San Francisco, California, but produced in Taiwan.
If you would never seen these before these have tall 14 inch sliding poles and the ornament will stay put until agitated and then he will slide down the pole. I’ve heard about these, but I’ve never truly seen one with my own eyes before until now going through this very valuable collection and estate. at the top of each chrome pole is a different ornament, ranging from a Mickey Mouse head to a Christmas tree to a star to a white ball to a lollipop and to a green tree.
There’s a little character that you can slide up the pole and the second he is agitated he will come shimmering down the pole gloriously. It’s a real site to see, you’ve never seen anything like this before.
These are very vintage. If you are OK with putting some glue on some parts when they fall off, I will sell them to you because I can almost promise you that even with all the amount of bubble wrap I use this set is so fragile that little wooden parts will fall off. This is one of the most fragile Christmas ornaments ever made with little tiny wooden parts and the glue becomes brittle. It’s very easy to glue them back on, but I’m going to promise you now even in a very large box. Don’t hold me liable for gluing the parts back on that fall off. I will do my very very best packing and use up a whole role of $20 bubble wrap but there will be some reassembly required. I guarantee you. There is paint chipping on these and at least one of the metal chrome poles is dusted with a Fatima of rust. You could easily clean that off with a little piece of steel wall, but the Fatima looks absolutely gorgeous. You can touch up the paint that chipped off of the toy soldiers but why would you destroy the retro Fatima look?
This is one of the most amazing sets I have ever sold and the years range from 1984 through 1986. Somebody is going to be a lucky buyer but I am not giving these away. I’m going to start the offer at $200 and make it open for offers. If you offer me enough, I might close the sale early but the offer had better be good because these are super rare. You will be the envy of all your friends and relatives with some of the world’s most sought after and rare ornaments.
I’m going to pack these in a giant box and use up a $20 roll of bubble wrap trying to make sure these get there as safely as possible. I will probably use an inner box as well as an outer box. Both padded with rolls of bubble wrap, but you are responsible to glue any parts back on that fall off . It won’t be any real damage, but the glue is very brittle that holds these little wooden characters to their stands. I just shipped one of the most beautiful and Ornette pieces of art wood ever created, and the new owners had a fun little project of gluing all the little creatures back on the ark. I hope you will only have to glue back two or three of them but I want you to expect it. I’m the best packer on but not even the best packer can preserve these 100%.
Whoever is the lucky winner of this sale can ship these, however they want, but I recommend FedEx because they are much more gentle with packages than USPS. And it will involve less gluing if we go with FedEx
