ULTRA RARE 1885 KY DOCUMENT HANDWRITTEN BY CONFEDERATE MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT, BENNETT H. YOUNGOffered is an exceptionally rare, 9" x 6" vintage Kentucky document handwritten by former Confederate Medal of Honor recipient, BENNETT H. YOUNG, dated November 24, 1885.The document has been matted and framed to an overall size of 15" x 12".This document describes a stock transaction, dated November 14, 1885, on original "The Farmers and Dovers Bank" letterhead stationary, handwritten, signed and dated by Young.
On back of frame, previous owner has given written description of Young's heroics during the Civil War, which reads, in full:
"During the Civil War, Lt. Young served wth Gen. John Hunt Morgan and was captured during the Ohio Raid. He escaped and made his way to Canada. From Canada, he led a group of Confederate soldiers on a raid of St. Albans, Vermont (The Northern most land action of the Civil War). For this very successful and dangerous operation, he (Young) was awarded the Confederate Medal of Honor.The medal did not exist during the war, but after the War 50men have been awarded this honor by Confederate Veteran Organizations. You can go to the Confederate Medal of Honor website to see the names listed. This is an extremelyRAREKentucky Confederate collectible. Lt. Young became a successful and respected Louisville Lawyer after the War"
