VERY LARGE: 23" long, 7"tall; 6" deep VINTAGE MEXICAN HAND-CARVED AND HAND-PAINTED WOODENSCULPTURE REPRESENTING A DOUBLE CHERUB HEADS WITH WINGS; EXTREMELY WELL-DETAILED. GUERRERO-STYLE. Circa 1950's.
Wood-carved guardian angels and winged cherubs used to be apart of home décor in the Mexican villages for centuries, since they arebelieved to bring good luck. The sculptures were carved from a solid Maderawood; Gesso was then applied on the front part and painted over. Wings areattached by nails. There are no two Cherub heads that are exactly alike. Eachwood-carved Cherub head represents a beautiful piece of Mexican folk art!
This beautiful wall sculpture of a double cherub head is done in GUERRERO style, with two heads - each has different expression and character - carved from one solid piece of Madera wood, with wings attached. This gorgeous wall statue appears to be in good vintage condition. You will see some minor surface imperfections due to age. Please review the photos verycarefully to fully appreciate the spectacular condition of the piece. The wingsare sturdy; no significant paint losses detected. The piece is in beautiful condition!
