Groton School, School House
Wedgwood Plate
The plate is in good vintage (used) condition.
The plate has glaze crazing on both its top side and underside. It has a few small scratches and scruffs . These can only be seen when you tilt the plate into good light at just the right angle.
The plate has original to manufacture peg stand marks, mineral deposit flecks and glaze air bubbles and bubble pops. There are a few areas on the plate's underside where the glaze was applied a bit unevenly. All of this is common to Wedgwood of this type and age.
The plate measures 10 1/2 inches in diameter.
The words printed on the plate's underside read:
Groton School 1935
School House
There is the importer's stamp (Jones, McDuffee and Stratton Co.), and a Wedgwood stamp. There are impressed "Wedgwood" and "Made in England" stamps. Several of the characters in the impressed year code stamp are difficult to read. The particular year code indicates that the plate was produced sometime in the 1930s.
