This is a commemorative gift sent by Nomura Securities to its shareholders on its 60th anniversary. It is 1985.It was made by a company called 「Tatsumura art textile」.
Tatsumura is an art textile company founded in 1894.The company studies textiles from Shosoin and Horyuji temples in Nara Prefecture, and produces the rips and fabrics used in historical buildings such as the Imperial Household, the Diet Building, and famous temples in Japan.The company won a gold medal at the first World Industrial Fair in Berlin.Exhibitions were held in New York and Washington in 1946.It has since become one of Japan\'s leading textile companies, producing fabrics for Christian Dior\'s dresses.The design of this tapestry features a poem by Hon\'ami Koetsu, a traditional Japanese waka poet, written on a painting by the Edo period painter Sotatsu Tawaraya.What was originally written on paper, Tatsumura has expressed in textile.Instructions in English are included.
