Offering for sale thisscarce and desirable Mills Novelty Imperial Shock machine circa 1904.Themachine features a solid oak case and an ornate cast iron front that is adornedwith two female figures and roses.
This is a particularly specialexample as it features the unusual top-sign that compliments the graphics onthe paper dial. While the more-common version of this machine features a dial witha female face, this machine offers the patron an invitation to“Take a Triparound the World and Feel Vigorous!”
The graphics on the dial featurean around the world trip with stops in:Chicago, Detroit, New York, London, Constantinople,Calcutta, Manila, San Francisco.
After inserting a penny inthe center-top slot, the user grips each handle and pushes down on the rightside. This engages the electrode circuit and begins the flow of electricity. Asthe handle is further pressed, the center dial advances to each city, while theamount of shock increases as well.
Once you stop advancing andrelease the handle the machine resets and is ready for the next play. Excellentoverall condition having been restored about 20 years ago by a top arcaderestoration expert.
