Vintage Snuff Bottle Carved Bone Elephant Lion Wolf Jackal Kathmandu For Sale

Measures approximately 7 3/4 inches long.

Unique and hard-to-find vintage snuff container carved from animal bone and finished with silver tone metal accents.

Bone container is hand carved / decorated with an elephant, lion, and a wolf / jackal on two different sides.

A small metal snuff spoon extends from the lid.

A 25 inch long metal chain is attached to both ends to use for carrying.

Purchased from a street market in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1987.

I was told that the bone was from a water buffalo, or possibly yak, but I cannot positively confirm this.

Light surface wear consistent with its age.
