This vintage Tycos dual reading thermometer is a fantastic addition to any collection of scientific instruments. Made by the renowned Tycos brand in Rochester, NY, this thermometer is a unique piece of history. It has a very interesting design choice in which it utilizes two curves in the glass to provide two separate columns for reading marked “Cold” and “Heat” respectively. It is not a very colorful piece with the palette being full of darker colors. Age has not taken away from the piece, with the text and numbers still being perfectly legible. The white color font stands out against the black background of the thermometer. While it looks great it does have a few flaws. There is some wear along the bottom front edge of the piece and some slight erosion on the top canopy. The back side is a bit scratched up from hanging against different materials. The thermometer measures about 12” tall and 2.5” wide.
