WWI U.S. A.E.F. 50th DH-4 "Liberty" Squadron group consisting of an original "Sterling" Badge with an Air Service winged prop and the silhouette of the "Dutch Girl" carrying a broom handle, embossed with "50th Aero Squadron" on the front and the reverse inscribed with "Paris 1918," and "Sterling." The badge is attached to a set of Dog Tags and has the inscription of the Sergeant's name, and "50th Aero Sqd. U.S.A.," with his I.D. number. The grouping also includes a WWI Victory Medal, Signal Corp Patch, Collar Devices, SGT Chevron, one Overseas Chevron and a Discharge Chevron. Includes an inert Training Round stamped "R.A. 17." ~ The 50th Aero Squadron was assigned to the 5th Corps Observation Group 1st Army on August 14, 1918 and reached the front at Bigqueley near Toul on September, 8th. It engaged in recon operations at St. Mihiel and the Argonne - Mese 1st and 2nd offensives. It ceased operations April 1, 1919 making many reconnaissance missions over the lines taking photos and gathering information with 5 K.I.A's, 2 wounded while fending off many German attacks scoring one victory. ~ Nice accent piece for a WWI aviation A.E.F. display and extremely scarce. ~ This item will be superbly packaged to ensure a safe delivery. ~ All questions are welcome. ~ Thanks!
