you are admiring a super nice example of an original wwll cbi, poughkeepsie a-2 jacket. this was worn in the icwatc [india-china wing] in the china, burma, india theater. the air transport command [atc] was responsible for getting supplies to us and allied troops in asia, during wwll. all of the patches and blood chits are original to the jacket, and are sewn through the leather shell and liner. the original name tag is in three languages, with the english letters spelling o.a. ohannie, or o.a. ohannus. to much of the letter paint has rubbed off for me to make a positive name id. the hides on the jacket are in strong supple condition, showing only surface wear. the liner is inn way above average condition with minor tears and discoloration at the top near the collar. the zipper is a mic war talon, and because i found some stitch lines near it in the line, it may be a war time replacement. however talons of this type are correct for this poughkeepsie contract. the zipper is compleatly intact, and runs but is a little stiff due to some surface rust on some of the teeth. i suspect a good cleaning will help. the chest patch is in good over all condition and color, however there is some flaking, and fissures. the last letter of the icwatc is missing. the shoulder patches are good condition. the left shoulder shield has some stitching undone. there are not one, not two, but three blood chits sewn into the jacket. the two on the inside back appear to be made of silk and are faded. none the less, they are quite readable and are without issue. the chinese-american flag and \"return me\" blood chit on the right insie liner is made of multi piece leather, and shows some minor deterioration near the bottom. the knits are original to the jacket. the waist band is in very nice clean condition, but the wrist knits show fraying, and the outer layer of the two ply wool has been cut off. why? dunno, that how the jacket came to me. the jacket has a size tag below the nomenclature label indicating a size 42. however, please read the measurements before offerding. chest from pit to pit: 22 1/4\". front length: 22 1/2\". sleeves from the shoulder seam to end of cuff: 25\". shoulder seam to shoulder seam at the top back: 17 5/8\". back length from the collar seam to bottom of waist band: 25\". this original cbi, icwatc a-2s has never been at sale, or passed around. it has been in my collection for many years. icwatc jackets are rare birds, and i am sure this one will be welcomed in ant wwll flight gear collection.
