A LOVELY GENUINE ROYAL FLYING CORPS PROPELLER CLOCK WITH BELL STRIKE c1918 For Sale

Hi,i have for sale a gorgeous propeller clock that would have beencommissionedby theRoyalFlying Corps c1918.This clock is gorgeous and the main head would have been fashioned on a WW1 propeller.The clock case is in three sections,the main part which is the prop head which I think is turned from a Sopwith Camel propeller at a guess.There is also awasted base and the bottom molding section made in the same vein as the head.The wood on this clock is made fromsandwichedlayers of mahoganythat gives the wood stability and strength in flight.Also the mounting bolt holes have been filled in with hardwood dowels.The head sits on a lovely base that is in the style of an inverted wing.There is boxwood inlay to the border and a lovely intricate boxwood/fruit wood central RFC logo complete with silver RFC lettering.The inlay is perfect and the clock would have been a very expensive to make but my guess is that it would have been done at one of their work shops.The case has a lovely toffee patina and is in great condition for its age.

Inside the clock is a very good French bell strike 8 day movement that was made by Mougin.This strikes a pleasant silvered bell once on the half hour and to the number of hours on the hour.I have taken the movement out for a clean and re oil.The movement runs very well and keeps good time.The clock has a lovelyenameleddial with good dark roman numerals.This sits behind a polished brass bezel with good thickbeveledglass.The clock measures 18 1/2 inches wide x 12 inches high x 4 1/2 inches deep.The clock dial measures 4 inches in diameter and the brass ring measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter.The clock looks loveley and sounds nice too,there are some age related marks on the case but these are not serious.Fullsetup instructions will be sent along with a key.

The postage will be £11 to send to England,Wales and some parts of Scotland .I can send overseas but please ask for a price first.
