Antique 19th C Marks Bros American Gem No. 1 Metal Toy Sewing Machine Rare For Sale

We are listing today for your consideration a great Antique late 19th century Marks Bros American Gem No. 1 Metal Toy Sewing Machine. This sewing machine is in Excellent Original Working Condition with very slight wear and very slight surface rust in some areas. Very slight surface wear at the 2 corners by the wheel at the painted flower scroll decorations. The machine measures 8\" tall at the top of the spool holder, the top sewing surface measures 6 1/4\" x 3 1/2\", the base feet measure 6 3/8\" x 4 7/8\", at it\'s widest at the wood handle measures 8 5/8\", and at it\'s deepest with the large wheel it measures 9 3/4\". The sewing machine weighs approximately 4lb 8oz. The machine is marked in paint Gem No. 1 on the one side along with Baker Bros on the other side. The metal plate for the needle is marked Pat Apl For. The machine works great and is in original unrestored condition, we did squirt a very small amount of oil at the wheels. Both wheels are very smooth as well as the needle moving up and down, the teeth also move great both forward and backward. The sewing machine originally had a small wood base, no problem to replace and this one comes with the very rare large speed enhancer wheel. You interchange the one original wood handle between the 2 wheels. We do have the original belt, it is broke. We believe this machine dates from the 1880\'s. A very rare toy metal sewing machine, it was used as well professionally by seamstresses. Great floral decorations and gold gilded scroll throughout the machine along with a great center bird decoration. A great rare 19th century Toy Sewing Machine, these examples are very hard to come by, and this one is very clean. It would make a great addition to anyone\'s collection or home.
