Candlestick or Lighthouse
Postal Scales.

These fabulous candlestick or lighthouse postal scales, by \"R. W. Winfield\" are in \"as found\" condition and have not been repaired or restored by us.

The scales are made of brass with embossed decoration to the base.  The column has the makers name \"R. W. Winfield, Birmingham, January 13 1840, No. 170.\" and a scale with the weights in ounces. All of the embossed decoration, lettering and numbers are still crisp.
The sprung indicator works well.

I can\'t find any splits or cracks to the brass, just the usual  wear and scuff marks that you would expect from a well used item of this age.

The scales measure 16 cm (6 1/4 inches) high.
