For this sale I am offering a Carette Limousine toy tin car that is over 100 years old. The car belonged to my husband\'s Uncle Al. I have included a photo of the documentation my husband\'s mother wrote about the car when she passed it on to my husband many years ago. We have kept it in a glass display cabinet, and now it is time for it to go to a new home.
This Carette Limousine is an exceptional piece for a collector.
The car is in very good antique condition. I suspect Al was not allowed to play with it very often.
Features of the car:
Seated chauffeur in the open front of the Limo and three passengers in the enclosed back of the limo.
Luggage rack, side lanterns, brake lever, running boards and opening side doors (however I have not tried to open them as they feel tightly closed) I think they may be missing little door handles.
The limo is clockwork driven, with original key. Still works, however due to the fact the tires are misshapen, the car did not move. However when wound and the car is held off the ground, the wheels worked just fine.
Rear side windows are beveled.
The 100 year old wheels are out of shape due to the rubber-like material aging. Please note in photos.
Made by toy manufacturer George Carette & Co.Hallmark: Germany
12 1/2\" long
Please see the photos for condition of the exterior of the limo. Quite good for a 100+ year old toy!!!

PLEASE NOTE: There has been a concern expressed by a potential buyer as to whether the car has touch-up paint on it. As I previously mentioned in the Question & Answer section, after close examination the only place that I see that may have touch-up paint is around the black trim of the doors. The black line is not perfect. The red around the windows has also been questioned. Once again, all I know is that since 1978 when my husband received the car from his mother, who had inherited it from her brother (AL), we have not altered the car in any way. As to what happened between c.1910 and 1978, we have no knowledge. PLEASE use the ZOOM feature to look closely at the details of the car. will not permit me to post more photos. I have done my very best to post an accurate and honest listing. The car is being sold \"AS IS\" with NO RETURNS.
