Antique Bellieni Unknown Optical Instrument in Good Condition France, 1910-20
This unknown optical instrument was made in France in the early 20th century (1910-1920). It comes in its original antique wooden case.
The case measures 29 1/2\" long x 8\" wide. Each individual side measures 13\" long by 9\" high. The center pipe measures 23\" long by 6\" high.I really have no clue what this optical instrument is. It is probably part of a larger piece. The circular canisters on either side are made of glass. The top of the glass canisters do come off. There are many fittings to the pipes. The middle part does rotate in different directions. If you have any idea what this is please let me know. There is a empty spot to the right of the box where it looks like the instrument was stored but is now missing. The optical instrument comes unassembled and can be stored this way in the solid wooden case that protects it. The top of the box has the stamp of H. BELLIENI – NANCY, corresponding to Henri Bellieni (1857-1938). Bellieni was an optical instrument and camera maker that founded his company, H. Bellieni et Fils, in the French city of Nancy. The word Constructeur means maker in French.
The unknown optical instrument shows some general wear and has the fine patina provided by the trace of time. Last but not least, the case where this instrument comes in is made of solid wood with fine dovetail joints at the corners. It has two metal clasps on either side for fastening. The original clasp on the top is missing. The metal handle is missing an original screw. One of the wood \"rests\" inside is loose. Any lover of scientific antiques will find an exclusive piece in this antique instrument, a very decorative and fully original article. Please email me with questions,Cheers!
