THE MOUNTS ARE OF BRASS OR BRONZE WITH GOLD WASH FINISH, THE HANDLE WRAPPED IN FABRIC BRAIDING AND HAS STING RAY SKIN UNDER WRAPPING WITH ORNATE MENUKIES. THE BLADE IS STRONG WITH BRIGHT FINISH AND TAMPER LINE, ONE VERY SMALL BLISTER ON ONE SIDE. THERE IS A COMPANION KNIFE KOZUKA WITH BEAUTIFUL HANDLE. SCABBARD IS LACQUERED WOOD WITH TWIST, MOUNTS OF BRASS AND SOME STEEL, EVERYTHING VERY NICE AND TIGHT, MADE FOR A WEALTHY GEISHA OR SAMURAI\'S WIFE. LIKELY 1800s.
