Antique Late 1800s Keuffel & Esser Surveying Brass Transit Level 5717 No Case For Sale

This sale is for an original antique circa late 1800s or early 1900s Keuffel & Esser transit. The transit is marked on the front Keuffel & Esser Co New York 5717. It appears to be brass in construction. It measures 11.5\" long when eyepiece is pushed in, and 14 1/8\" long when fully pulled out. The bubble is intact and seems to function fine when set on a flat surface. The knob turns just fine and the lens extends outward as designed. No cracks or chips in the lenses. The front piece is removable and looks to need a little cleaning. The brass has aged patina, some light pitting in areas, and needs a detailed cleaning. It appears to be complete from what I can tell, but please ask any questions you may have.A nice early antique transit that would be a fine addition to your collection.
