Antique Late 1930\'s Columbia 5c Slot Machine - Freshly Restored:
$885.00

Antique 5 Cent Gold Award Columbia Slot Machine. Manufactured by Groetchen Tool Company of Chicago. These machine were made from 1936 to 1948 with Four years off for World War II (1942 - 1946) . This machine is stamped with a Serial Number of 5893 which makes it one of the earlier machines. TheMechanismand Case are both stamped in Matching Serial Numbers. The machine contains Three Original Gold Award Tokens and over 50 Buffalo Nickels.
I just finished restoring this one. It looks, plays and pays fantastic. Pays very accurately. Machine was completely Stripped and Primed, then Shot in DuPont Plum Berry Automotive Paint with Silver Stripes and Three Coats of Clear were applied. The Beautiful Wood Case was sanded and Stained in Minwax Golden Oak and then shot in Clear Urethane. The Mechanism has been cleaned, lightly oiled and any necessary adjustments made. The mechanism is very clean and runs excellent. Has the Original Reel Strips in Very Good Condition with perfect Patina. New Rubber Feet were installed. The Back Door is original and I believe the Lock and Key areOriginalas well. The Original Loading/Operating Instructions are still on the Back Door.
Columbia was the only Slot that paid out the last coined played in. So in the event that a person was playing slugs they would be paid out in slugs. This was a unique anti cheat feature as the machine pays out the last coins that were played in. The coins played go into a circular escalator that advances one position with each coin played. Once the escalator is full the coins drop into an 80 coin carousel magazine from which the winning coins are paid from. Once the magazine is full the coins go into the coin box. The Original Coin Box is intact.
This is a very attractive, fun to play machine.
