Online research indicates thatMaytag was founded in 1893, built their first washer in 1907, grew to becomeone of the largest suppliers of home appliances and was in business until 2007. This plate is not dated but fromits stylewe assume it is from the late 1900s or early 1910s.3 1/2\" wide by 2 1/2\" high, made of cast brass about 3/32\" thick and nickel plated. It ishighly detailed with theMaytag scriptlogo, unit ID and patent informationall raised over a textured background. Hand stamped information includesModel A, Number 7278 and motor info 110 Volts60 Cycles.The nameplate is in very good used condition with no damage, sharp and clear lettering,some minor scratches.It hasnormal general plating wear andslight patina, mounting holes are clean with rivets still in place.
