Antique "pawfoot" cast iron sewing machine circa 1860-70:
$812.12

This is a rare cast iron "pawfoot" or fire hydrant model sewing machine in very good working condition. The machine is complete and the paint and decoration are all original. These early sewing machines were typically attributed to the Shaw & Clark Company of offerdeford, Maine; and were manufactured from 1860-70. This particular machine is unmarked and has no patent or maker information, but this is not uncommon. The machine has beautiful gold highlighting and hand painted floral decorations which are nearly totally intact, which is rare for a 170 year old working machine. An interesting feature on this machine are the original oval openings cast into the base on either end. The sewing machine is about 9 inches tall, 12 inches long not including wooden crank, and 8 inches wide. The machine weighs 7 pounds. Underside is clean, rust-free and perfect.
