Hi! Fresh from an old MAINEEstate is this wonderful early antiqueWILLCOX & GIBBS HAND CRANK CHAIN STITCH SEWING MACHINE - in very good to excellent condition!Based on information found on line, the serial number - A471626 - indicates it was built sometimearound 1887.The Patented Years stamped into thenickel plated(?) cloth plate range from Dec 28,1875 to April 17,1883(pictured).The mechanics function smoothly with this machine. Whenthe wheel is turned, the linkage moves which makes the needle go up and down. The lever on the top sidemoves the foot accordingly. As you can see in the photos, the gold stenciling is still crisp and mostly intact. It looks fantastic considering it is 125 + or - years old! This will make an excellent addition to any antique sewing machine-it displays beautifully! The overall length of this machine is approximately 11 1/4" and it stands 8 3/8" tall (at the spool pin holder). It weighs just over 9 pounds.Due to the age of this machine,it is to be sold in AS-IS Condition.I am listing a nice collection of vintage and antique items this week as well as an antique Singer Cobblers Machine. Please feel free to check them out! Thank you for viewing! Please contact me if you have any questions or would like additional photos. Happy offerding :0)
