OLD ANTIQUE VTG 1910\'s EMERSON TYPE 24645 STEPPED BASE PARKER BRASS BLADES & CAGE ELECTRIC FAN
This offering is for an original vintage Emerson Type 24645 Three Speed Electric Fan in very nice untouched condition. The tag on top states \"EMERSON THE EMERSON ELECTRIC MFG CO NEW YORK ST LOUIS No. 818450 VOLTS 110 TYPE 24645 WATTS 66 CYCLES 60 FOR ALTERNATING CURRENT PATENTED\". The fan features a stepped base with four brass blades, one of which is marked \"THE PARKER FAN BLADE PAT\'D SEPT 12, 1899\" as well as a wonderful brass cage. The fan is also marked \"EMERSON\" on the brass tag on the front of the cage. The fan measures app. 14\" in overall height to the top of the cage, the cage itself measures app. 10\" in diameter, the blades measure app. 9\" in diameter. The brass has not been cleaned or polished in years and we will leave the decision to do so or not to the new owner. The fan runs well on all three speed settings with a distinct difference of speeds between them. Interestingly the speeds are reverse of normal with one being the fastest and three being the slowest. The housing on the oscillating mechanism on the back has a piece broken out of the bottom left hand corner so it does not currently oscillate. However, on the good side the cover is held on with screws so it should be a fairly easy replacement. When running you can see the oscillator gears turning inside so once the cover is replaced it should oscillate properly. The cord has been repaired at some point and likely shortened in the process. The plastic housing on the plug also has a piece broken off of it. The cord is over a hundred years old so f you plan on using the fan I would certainly think it should have a complete cleaning, new cord and plug prior to your actually planning on using it. The black painted finish is better than 95% intact with only the most minor very light scattered wear. In short this fan is in very nice condition. If you like early fans that are in excellent original condition this one is sure to fit the bill and will make an fantastic addition to your collection!!
