Authentic 1950\'s Erie Railroad stock certificate now Conrail or Norfolk Southern:
$2.99

Beautifully engraved, authentic Erie Railroad Company cancelled stock certificate issued in the 1950\'s.  The certificate is original, not a copy or a reproduction.  The scan is an example of a certificate and each certificate will be unique due to the owner, date of issue and serial number.  This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an allegorical woman and an allegoric man standing beside a wreath that has the word \"Erie\" in the middle of it and a scene of a city behind them.  The Erie Railroad (reporting mark ERIE) was a railroad that operated in New York State, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, connecting New York City with Lake Erie, and extending west to Cleveland, Ohio and Chicago. In 1960 it merged with the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad to form the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, becoming part of Conrail in 1976.   In 1983, remnants of the line became part of New Jersey Transit Rail operations, including its Main Line. Today, most of the former Erie Railroad routes are operated by Norfolk Southern. The certificate is in fair condition for its age and has the normal punch cancellation/staple holes and noticeable fold marks from mailing. Nice looking certificate and is a great conversation piece of a famous company in american railroad history. Certificate would make a fine addition to your collection or a great gift. Stock certificate collecting is becoming increasingly popular due to the historical significance of many of the companies and their increasing rarity. With the advent of electronic trading the issuance of stock certificates has decreased markedly and accordingly should improve the value of these certificates over time. Please review my response record and offer with confidence.
