AUTHENTIC WW1 U.S. Remington M1917 Bayonet Pattern 1913 w/ Scabbard:
$202.50

Scroll down for more pictures!Up for sale is a rare Remington M1917 Bayonet, originally made in the Pattern 1913 for British use before being repurposed for the American military.Earliest deliveries by Remington were made from undelivered British production. These simply had the British proof markings crossed out and a US added. The orientation and location of the US mark varies greatly, and in some cases the US is stamped twice, once horizontally and once vertically. Only around 550,000 of such blades were produced, making these quite rare. You can see all of that at play on both sides of the ricasso on this blade--on one side, we see a crossed out British proof marking next to a vertical U.S. On the other, we see the original British-style production dating under the model # \"1913\" of \"9 - 17\", indicating this blade was produced in September of 1917 for British use in WW1, but repurposed for the American military before being shipped off. This bayonet is in great condition and includes a fantastic M1917 scabbard. Please see pictures for more details, we have included many more further down in the listing and they can be expanded in your browser to see more detail. The blade itself measures 17\".To preserve authenticity and original condition we do not make ANY attempts to clean or restore the items we sell. We feel that decision is best left to the buyer and understand that the proper restoration of historical items is best done by experts. We go to great lengths to handle things carefully, including strict attention to detail during packaging and shipping. This historical piece of militaria comes from the personal collection of the Carrell family estate in Louisville, KY, owners of historical landmark business the Falls City Theater Equipment Co. The men of the Carrell family were all military members with the most recent two generations serving in World War II and Vietnam. Later in life they became avid collectors of fast cars, big guns, and World War memorabilia & militaria. We are not professional graders. Our quality descriptions are subjective and based on a critical look at overall condition including wear, age of item, coloration (faded or not), presence of rust, and \"eyefeel\". We try to include hi-res shots of details with a professional-grade DSLR camera and are happy to send additional photographs or field questions to serious buyers. Our statements of provenance come from a combination of oral history from the owners of the estates we buy from and thorough research by our team of professionals. We are not experts, but we fully guarantee all of our items so please offer or buy with confidence.
