Awesome Art Deco 1936 FADA 260G Plascon Tube Radio Golden Brass Trim-Works-NR:
$392.78

Here for your consideration is an Awesome Art Deco 1936 FADA Model #260G Ivory Plascon Tube Radio with Brass Trim that was recently repaired and plays well. This set sold for $24.95 in 1936. Paul has a wonderful write up about this set on Tuberadioland. You would do well to check it out.

This 11” x 6” x 7.5” Six tube set is just awesome to look at with its bold decorative case lines and golden brass trim. It is an exceptional looking radio, and will hold its own in any radio display. The cabinet GLOWS when lit at night. It is spectacular! Only FADA did this additional trim work, for an additional price, as the 260 is the same set with no trim. For a plascon radio, this is about as good as it gets. I’ve owned at least six of these radios, and other than the one in my collection, this is the best I’ve seen.

With virtually every plascon radio there are chips cracks, and chips. I see no cracks, chips, or hairlines on the sides or top of this set. There are 3 light hairlines on the top left of the speaker grille, and 3 to the right edge of the dial. The bottom has 3 larger hairlines, and a chip by the back right foot. None of this can be seen unless you flip the radio over. The back has no cracks, chips, or hairlines, but the plascon has shrunk around the back screws and chipped away on the inside of the radio. Again, this can not be seen unless you take the radio apart.

I took it to my Tech Friend Tom, and he replaced the 13 capacitors and the dial light. It plays well. I picked up a number of AM stations across the dial, loud and clear with its internal antenna. This is truly an eye catching set. My son says it is time for a new owner to enjoy it, so here you go. Good Luck, Radioorphanage !!
