BENTZIN PLANOVISTA 127ROLLFILM TWIN-LENS FOLDING CAMERA WITH MEYER F2.9/7.5CM LENS

The Planovista is aname variation of the Bentzin Primarette. These two identical cameras were probablythe only folding twin-lens non-reflex rollfilm camera design ever offered. Itdiffers from the twin-lens-folding-reflex designs offered about the same time inthat it uses an eye-level ground glass viewing screen instead of a waist-levelreflex. This makes it doubly difficult to use because the viewfinder image isboth upside-down and reversed left to right. It dates from 1933. No foldingtwin-lens cameras were commercially successful, and the folding twin-bellows designsdid not survive the war. This example is serial number 897.

Condition is fair togood. The black enameled metal work is unchipped, except for minor chips on thebase and the top corner of the lens panel. The struts are bright and shiny. Theleather covering is complete but has some scuff and use marks. The bellows lookto be in good condition but might well have some pin-hole light leaks. The uncoatedMeyer Trioplan lens number 663665 is hazy, has a small amount of internal dust, and has some fine cleaning marks but no apparent fungus or scratches. TheCompur shutter sounds about right on all speeds, but the release trigger doesnot spring back as it should; it needs to be put back in position beforecocking the shutter next. The body release linkage is in position but isinoperative. Focusing is by the ground glass screen or a scale on the frontpanel; focus adjustment is by the knob on top of the lensboard. There is afold-out magnifier inside the hood. The viewfinder lens rises as you focuscloser, automatically adjusting for Parallax. The top deck of the body pops offto reveal two chambers to hold spare films. The camera takes 8 exposures on 127film, each 4 x 6.5 cm.

The camera is offeredas a collectable for display.

Please examine thephotos as they are part of the description.
