Black glass sealed bottle. I think thebottle dates from the time round 1850. Consideringthere is no pontil scar, I think that this bottle is not among the elderly.I am not so familiar with the improved pontil that sometimes was used. Thebottle looks like it has been blown in some kind of mold. Maybe the bottle wasmade with some sabot or snap case. Applied string rim as shown on pictures.
Seal missing his bottom as you can see.Otherwise, the bottle is in good condition just a little Surface scratch. The height of the bottle is around 23.5 cm or 9.2 inches. Thediameter at the bottom is 8,5 cm or 3,3 inches.
The wine sold inthese bottles was named after Constance the wife of the Dutch Governor SimonVan der Stel (died in 1712) in South Africa, who possessed vineyards at theCape from c. 1680 onwards.
