BORSALINO 7 1/2 FEDORA VINTAGE ALLESSANDRIA WIDE BRIM HAT OLD SCHOOL HAT:
$127.50

COALCHAK THE HATSTALKER VINTAGE SHOP AND TIKI LOUNGEINTRODUCTION
This hat looks so sharp you might cut your fingers off if you touch the brim. Figuratively speaking.
This is a beautiful, imported hat from the finest hat company in the world, the Italian company Borsalino. It is in near mint condition. It is a large size 7 1/2 or XL rarely found now in vintage clothing or secondhand stores.
It is comfy, feels cool on your head, and can easily be reshaped (blocked) BY HAND and a little bit of steam from a tea kettle or clothes steamer, better yet.
HATS went out of fashion starting in the mid 60s on to the early 90s. VINTAGE hat wearers and collectors are willing to pay high prices to buy vintage fedoras from before the mid 1950s, but wise collectors are happy with Old or new Borslinos.
A new Borsalino in this wide brim, 50s to 20s genuine style would cost you more than $300.
This fashion hat maker never closed it\'s factories and went out of the dress hat business, unlike every American hat manufacturer including the Iconic Stetson hat co. As a result, the secret Hat Guild or Hatter\'s Union felting formulas were never lost to history as they were in the U.S. when huge hat companies went bust from the 1960s through the early 90s.
In that time, Stetson and other American hat companies sold their trademarked names to small companies that made dress hats cheap and usually wouldn\'t hire Union hat crafters who knew the guild secrets of hat making. Their low quality, high priced dress hats were such junk that those who bought their fedoras found that their hats fell apart or curled up when raindrops landed on them.
Borsalino NEVER went out of business and to this day employs Union hat makers from old families of hat makers who make the highest quality dress hats in the world.ITEM DESCRIPTION
This fur felt hat is wearable art. You can wear it as is or add inexpensive silk or fabric bands sold inexpensively on line. I will offer you a selection of removable hatband such as green patterned,, burgandy, black or even pink if you message me with your color choice after you win the sale. I will put up a picture soon of these hatband laid against the hat to make your choice easier.
The brim is 2 1/2 inches wide. The crown reaches 5 inches high in the front. I have blocked it as a Midwestern style fedora in a Stetson open road style. I can reblock it to another shape if you wish, but that will extend shipping by two days.
This fur felt is absurdly light and smooth. It is made largely of dyed rabbit and wild hare fur. Some nutria or beaver fur may be mixed in to the blend as well for water repellency. It is in like new condition. I wore it once or twice until I Found an older Stetson open road clone.
Freebies include a hat feather, vintage hat box, hat pin, cedar block to ward off evil clothes moths.
We use new packaging materials whenever possible.
This item comes from a SMOKE FREE APARTMENT. We are well groomed people who are not sick or infested with lice or other germs and cooties.WHY BUY FROM ME?
So why trust me?
This store is my job.
I am a disabled journalist and this store is all I have to earn income. My reputation is everything. I can\'t afford to lie or cheat you. You can count on me and the products I sell because I can\'t risk my store by cheating customers.
I offer service before and after the sale and have a liberal return policy IF your complaint resulted from my own mistake. Not buyers remorse or if you or your significant other doesn\'t like the way you look in the hat.
I have listed this item for vintage clothing enthusiasts and collectors. You hardly need to be a collector to buy this hat, however....HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR HAT SIZE
Just measure your hat size by placing a cloth measuring tape or a piece of thick string like twine around your head above the ears, across the middle forehead, and around the back of the head about an inch above where the neck meets the head. Pull the tape or string until it is snug, not tight. Mark the place where loose end meets the uncut part and mark with a pen or pencil. If you use a string measure with a ruler or yardstick.
Note the measure in inches or centimeters and Google \"hat size conversion chart\" and convert it to a U.S. hat size. Then repeat the process two or three times to make sure your size is correct.
It is best to have someone help you or to use a mirror.
STUFF TO CARE FOR YOUR HATS
1) Free Vintage hat box.
2) Free Cedar Block - sand every year or two to maintain odor that repels clothes moths.
3) Plastic rain protector - I recommend you put this over the outside of any hat to protect against rain, polluted acid rain, mud, soot, wind blown paint or other toxic airborne chemicals. Put this on when you slip a hat under chair at restaurants or in other dusty or muddy places.
4) Felt shims to downsize hat - slip under sweatband inside hat, first one or two in back of hat, then one in front till hat fits more snugly.
COMING SOON: The best hat accessory is a vintage raincoat, suit, tie, tie clasp, shoes, cane, decorative hat pin, watch or wristwatch. Please follow me as a seller and soon you will see these items on sale here.
Thank you for consideration.
Sincerely,
Tikidan64P.S. -- I wiil give you free advice on how to protect, handle, remove stains or fix minor damage if you win one of my sales. I am writing a short book on that subject.
Also, I plan to offer hat refurbishing services such as removing spots, replacing hat ribbons and sweatbands, and more to customers who pay more than $200 for my hats. Eventually, when I get more and better equipment, I will begin offering such services for a fee if possible.
