C. 1875 British Tailboard Camera * Mahogany, Cherry, Brass, Glass * Half Plate For Sale

Here\'s a beautiful mahogany half-plate camera manufactured in England in the 1870\'s. As you can see in the photographs, the camera has been carefully maintained, and it includes its original ground glass focusing plate. The mahogany body retains its original finish, and the red leather bellows are still supple and appear to be light tight. Lens is clear and throws a crisp image against the focusing plate. Brass fittings retain their original lacquer, and the patina on all the brass parts is excellent. No fittings are missing, and no fittings are incorrect. There\'s an age-related separation on the front standard, running parallel to the grain below the lens board, but overall the body is in excellent condition, with no corner damage, no chipping, no woodworm. The lens comes with a set of Waterhouse stops in their original leather case. The camera folds up neatly and looks beautiful from any angle. A really nice early camera. Measures approximately 9\" wide by 9\" high by 14\" deep (with lens mounted and tailboard extended). Shipping weight will be about 12 lb.That\'s about it.
