Unknown maker, this fine example of a circa 1870s shop engine includes exquisite cast and forged surfaces with original patina all in running condition.
Perfect for running a flat belt driven shop, exhibition or collection.
Details include:
A single center-mounted 16\" diameter fly-wheel with 6\" face, curved spokes, crank-shaft mounted on twin heavy cast A-frames each with adjustable main bearings, brass oilers, and original nuts.
Other crank-shaft details include:
Twin tear-drop crank arms, twin brass eccentrics, single 6 1/2\" diameter pulley for possible governor application.
A-frame details include:
Twin highly executed crosshead guides each with brass crosshead to connecting rod with gibbed and cottered bearings to twin double-tapered connecting rods each with gibbed, cottered, and strapped crank pin bearings, 3/4\" diameter piston rods to heavy ornate brass packing grands. Twin base-mounted cylinders of approximately 4\" diameter X 5\" stroke, believed to be an 8-10 horsepower engine.
Cylinder details include:
Side-mounted valve-chests, brass condensate valves, internal D-valves each with piston-rod to cross-frame mounted adjustable timing levers, all mounted on a heavy cast bed-plate atop early wood 25\" long skids. Note: presently mounted on rolling dolly not included.
Dimensions:
Overall height on skids 44\", width over shaft 24\", width over cylinder heads 29\", bed-plate depth 16\", approximate weight 350-450 lbs.
