Outstanding and quite rare, ca 1910 Pottery / Porcelain Beer Mug / Tankard with outstanding polychrome transfer decoration depicting Native America Chief
The wonderful, Porcelain / Pottery Mug measures approx. 4 3/4” tall and 3 3/4” in diameter at the base. The surface of the Beer Mug / Tankard features a bust portrait of a Native American. Text inversed over the image reads “F.A. Rinehart Omaha N, Nov 12th 1898”.
The portrait was originally taken by Frank Rinehart at the U. S. Indian Congress of the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition held in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Mug is very heavy and carries the mark on the manufacturer – Taylor, Smith & Taylor of Liverpool, Ohio.
This wonderful, early 20th century Native American Indian subject Beer Mug / Tankard is in good condition – generally clean and crisp and well preserved. See photos for any issues. The transfer decoration is well preserved and there are only tiny, scattered flea bites to the dark colored, all over, background surface (see photos). Overall the Mug is very well preserved and displays beautifully.
