Original, ca1920, Chromolithograph Black Americana, Advertising Dexterity Toy / Puzzle. This wonderful hand held toy measures approx. 2 1/2\" in diameter and features a view caricature style portrait of an Black African Native. There is a steel ring and two brass rings loose beneath the cover glass and printed text on the lithographed surface gives directions which read “Hook Brass Rings on Ears and Steel Ring on Nose”. The back of the case features advertising text that reads “J. H. Romig Co. Monuments / 225 No, 10th Ave / Allentown, Pa”. The Dexterity Toy is not marked by the manufacturer but appears to have been made in the United States rather than in Germany.
This wonderful and rare, Color Lithographed Hand Held Dexterity Toy is in very good condition - The lithography is excellent with no wear and no damage. The cover glass appears to be made of a clear plastic and is intact and clear with some light surface scratches. There is some light wear to the lithography on the back of the case as can be seen in the scans below.
