CANON AUTO ZOOM 1014 ELECTRONIC SUPER EIGHT MOVIE CAMERA

Now that Super 8 Sound Film is not available, the 1014Electronic is probably a better and more versatile camera than the 1014XLSwhich superseded it. It has variable shutter and exposure adjustments calibratedat the ½ and ¼ positions; it has a frame counter calibrated in two-framedivisions readable to the individual frame; and it is not encumbered with thenow unusable sound module.

This example is in excellent condition cosmetically, withno signs of use wear. The lens has noscratches, haze or fungus. The motor runs smoothly at all speeds. Singleframing is precise. The variable shutter closes smoothly to a fully shutposition. The exposure meter works OK. I have exposed part of a cassette ofKodak D50 negative film in it recently - the result can be seen by downloading thedigitised file (Canon 1014 35 seconds.wmv)from this link;

The dirty processing is not the camera’s fault. Exposurewas by the camera’s automatic settings. The WMV format is highly compressed foreasy download.

The only operational fault I have found is in the powerzoom. On the “H” setting it runs too slow and on “L” it won’t run at all. Onthe “M” setting, the manual zoom feels smoothly normal.

The camera’s serial number is 155772. The7~70mm 1:1.4 Macrolens is number 160677. It comes with a copy instruction book and a collapsible rubberlens hood.
