Civil War GAR Veteran Reunion Ribbon 108th NY 1891 Brigade Reunion Antietam MD:
$117.66

Up for offer is a 108th New York Volunteer Infantry reunion ribbon from the Brigade Reunion of the 2nd & 3rd Divisions of the 2nd Army Corps that was held on Sept. 15th to 19th at Antietam, MD and Gettysburg, PA. The brigade was comprised of the following regiments108th NY Vols., 10th NY Vols., 130th Penn. Vols., 14th Conn. Vols., 12th NJ Vols., 1st Del. Vols., 14th Ind. Vols., 4th Ohio Vols., 8th Ohio Vols. and the 7th W. Virginia Volunteers. this ribbon was worn by a member of Co. K, 108th NYVI. There were ribbons made for each company of the 108th NYVI.This is a nice silk satin ribbon in excellent condition. It measures 3\" by 8 3/4\". Very nice, very unusual ribbon with some discoloration due to age. This is the only case of a separate ribbon for each company of a regiment I have encountered in over 55 years of collecting. The 108th was mustered in August 1862 and fought it\'s \"Baptism of Fire\" Sept. 17, 1862 at Antietam. They performed very well for a green regiment capturing 168 prisoners and the colors of the 14th North Carolina. They suffered a loss of 196 men and their \"Honor Flag\" was shattered, being pierced by 69 balls. At Gettysburg the 108th was in Ziegler\'s Grove supporting Woodruff\'s Battery I, 1st US Light Artillery. William H. Raymond received the Medal of Honor for his actions on the skirmish line. During Pickett\'s Charge the 108th was at the far left of the Confederate line and captured 200 prisoners and Lt. Parsons took 6 surrendered swords and one battle flag. The 108th losses were; 3 officers and 15 enlisted men killed or died of wounds, 10 officers and 74 enlisted men wounded and none missing or captured. The 108th fought in every major and many minor battles of the Army of the Potomac from Antietam to Appomattox.
