Up for sale is a U.C.V . Southern Cross of Honor with owners name J.B. Herndon,with two CDV Photos. Medal belong to John Brockman Herndon of the 13th Virginia Infantry. The 13th West Virginia Regiment was organized at PT.Pleasant and Barboursville 1862 and Mustered out June 22nd 1865. A total of 170 men were lost ,4 officers and the rest enlisted men. Medal is in very nice shape and mounted on a small plaque(pinned) medal is pinned very tight did not remove from plaque.Medal is marked J.B.Herndon,13th VA.REG..Photos are of Mr Herndon.

MISTAKE IN HISTORY .13TH REGIMENT ,VIRGINIA INFANTRY (CONFEDERATE) COMPLETED ITS ORGANIZATION DURING THE SUMMER OF 1861 WITH MEN FROM WINCHESTER AND CULPEPER ,ORANGE,LOUISA AND HAMPSHIRE COUNTIES.THE UNIT SUSTAINED HEAVY LOSSES AT CEDAR CREEK AND SURRENDERED WITH 10 OFFICERS AND 52 MEN.ITS COMMANDERS WERE COLONELS GEORGE A. GOODMAN,AMBROSE P. HILL ,JAMES A . WALKER, AND MAJORS CHARLES T. CRITTENDEN AND JOHN B SHERRARD.
