TV-7 Tube Tester Repair and RefurbishmentThis sale is for Repair and Refurbishment of your TV-7 tester, not for selling you one. My name is Daniel Nelson and I have been refurbishing the TV-7 series of tube testers for over 24 years. I have worked on more than 1000 of these vintage and well regarded tube testers. I carry some of the hard to get parts such as meters and bias pots. I can help you with your tester. I only work on the TV-7 series (TV-7/U, TV-7A/U, TV-7B/U, TV-7C/U, TV-7D/U).
This sale (Buy-It-Now) gets you the basic repair and calibration! Your tester may need parts not covered in the basic repair. I do stock these, so you can be assured that your tester can be repaired. These items are listed below, including installation. Return shipping charges and any agreed additional repair items, need to be prepaid before return shipment.
$225.00 covers repair and calibration w/90 day warranty. The sale does not include shipping to me as there is no way to arrange that. Local Pickup is shown in the shipping calculator so you won't be charged shipping by . Please double box your tester and arrange shipping via on of the major carriers, such as USPS, Fed-Ex or UPS.When your tester is ready,I will return by FedEx Ground. It will be insured for $495 or as requested.
Additional items needed for repair or refurbishment will be quoted and discussed via email before I go ahead, so everyone knows what is going on and the level of expense. I like to be sure everyone is reading from the same page.....I like to have the tester here for about 2-4 weeks depending on how many are in the queue.

When I go through the tester, I look at and attend to lots of things, including:
- Install 3 wire line cord if needed.
- Check every socket pin for proper tightness with pin gaugesand adjust or replace as needed.
- Check/Adjust Line Adjust setting
- Check/Adjust Grid, Low Screen, High Screen voltages
- Check filament voltages
- Check grid signal voltages
- Check the Bias Pot to be sure it is in good shape
- Check meter for zero, mid and full scale to assure accuracy and pivots ok
- Install anti-overload diodes across meter to prevent burnout due to misfortune
- Check many resistors - replace as needed.
- Calibrate the gm bridge circuit - the one that tests for tube quality
- Check rectifier tests
- Check shorts function for proper operation
- Check Shunt Pot phasing per manual
- Examine lid gasket - can replace if needed
- Check tester against known tubes including preamp and power tubes
- Replace meter electrolytic capacitor
- Replace line adjust diodes (native ones can fail anytime)
- Tighten hinges and latches as needed.
