Duluth Missabe & Iron Range/Bessemer& Lake Erie/EMD SD-9 Builders Plate VGC

For your consideration here is a nice EMD Duluth Missabe & Iron Range/ Bessemer & Lake Erie SD-9 builders plate. This particular engine (originally DM&IR #148) was a LaGrange product, bearing serial number 23928, with a builders date of March, 1958.

This engine began its service career as Missabe #148, then moved on by U.S. Steel to its other company (B&LE) and renumbered as Bessemer & Lake Erie #825. Many of the B&LE SD-9s were scrapped in 1987. This Stainless Steel plate has strong stampings and is very legible, bolt holes are all very good and plate is flat. The plate retains almost all of its blue paint and some red. Has the usual nicks and scrapes, with no major damage. Plate is ready for further restoration or immediate display.
