Very good condition early German Hirschfanger hunting swordthat is marked ST. STRIBERNY on the blade, possibly Austrian made. Blademeasures 16 ½” long and 1 ¼” wide at the base, and has original bright finishwith a little gray near the tip. Has been sharpened and has several minor nicksto the edge. Still has original green felt washer at the base. Guard, ferrule,and pommel have attractive patina. Stag grip has attractive color and grain andno damage. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that has an externalpocket for a skinning knife. Scabbard shows some wear and flaking, but hastight stitching. The tip is absent. A difficult to find Imperial GermanHirschfanger that will make a fine addition to your collection and a greatdisplay piece.
